MUKAH: A total of 23 schools in this district were ordered closed yesterday as haze worsened.
It is learned that most schools allowed their students to go home from 9am onwards after the Air Pollutant Index (API) soared to 201 (very unhealthy) level.
Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) St Patrick principal Anthony Poon Teck Huat in a WhatsApp message to parents announced that the school’s afternoon session was closed yesterday.
He said Form 4 and 5 students were allowed to go home from 10.30am and Form 3 from 11.30am after a briefing on PT3 had finished.
“In the following days, wait for an announcement from the school from time to time,” he added.
Meanwhile, SMK Three Rivers announced that the selection development training for athletes for Mukah Division Malaysian School Sports (MSS) on Sept 21 will be postponed to a later date.
