KUCHING: The people of Rumah Lang Ganya Ng Meruan, Jalan Dijih Selangau are expected to enjoy 24-hour electricity by next month.

Tamin assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang said the rural electricity supply project was expected to be completed in December.

He said this in a Facebook post on Sunday (Nov 15) after the earth breaking ceremony for the electrification project on Saturday (Nov 14).

“At the ceremony, I also handed over the Minor Rural Project (MRP) cheque to the longhouse’s Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) and associations in Selangau area respectively totalling RM195,000,” he said.

Gira added 22 landowners from Dijih, Selangau and Ulu Mukah area had received their native customary right (NCR) land gazetted under Section 6 of the State Land Code (SLC).

In another related event, he also attended the earth breaking ceremony for the new Rh Oyok longhouse at Jalan Dijih.

“I have also allocated RM75,000 for the villagers to buy building materials and RM16,000 to the longhouse JKKK,” said Gira.
