245 villagers in Bekenu affected by floods

MIRI: Seventy-two houses and 245 villagers from Kampung Kejapil, Kampung Subak and Kampung Opak in Bekenu were flooded after continuous heavy rain in the wee hours today.

According to Miri Civil Defence Department (APM) officer -in-charge Lt (Mirwan Shsh Masri, the water level was between one and three feet high.

There was no evacuation as the situation is still under control.

However, villagers have been told to be extra vigilante just in case the situation gets worse.

A team of APM Miri personnel has been mobilised to the affected villages for to monitor the floods.
