246 new cases in Sarawak

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 246 new positive cases on Monday (Feb 15), bringing the state’s tally to 6,832.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah said that 171 cases were recorded in Sibu.

“Of the total, 171 cases were recorded in Sibu, Kapit (22), Julau (21), Samarahan (12), Kuching (eight), Bintulu (six), Tatau (2), Miri (two), Dalat (one) and Bau (one),” he said.

He also said 253 cases had recovered and were discharged.

“Ninety-one patients were discharged from Miri Hospital, Sibu Hospital (71), Covid-19 quarantine and treatment centre (PKRC) under Kapit Hospital (48), Sarawak General Hospital (32), Bintulu Hospital (10) and Sarikei Hospital (one).

“This brings the total number of positive cases that has recovered and allowed to be discharged to 4,954 people or 72.51 percent of the total number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak,” he added.

As of Monday (Feb 15), 1,789 people were still receiving treatments and separated in the Covid-19 Quarantine and Low Risk Treatment Centres as well as hospital wards.

Uggah added that Lundu district had changed from red to orange status after recording 31 locally transmitted cases in the past 14 days.

“Jalau, Subis, Beluru, Kapit, Song, Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Miri and Sibu remain red because 2,003 locally transmitted cases were recorded in these districts in the last 14 days. Samarahan and Sri Aman remain orange with 70 locally transmitted case reported in these districts.

“Bau, Matu, Selangau, Kuching, Betong, Saratok, Sarikei, Sebauh, Lawas, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga and Meradong remain yellow with a total of 132 locally transmitted cases reported in the last 14 days,” he said.

Uggah added 12 districts remained green.
