25 schools affected by floods, five closed

KUCHING: A total of 25 schools throughout Sarawak were affected by floods, out of which five had been closed, involving 313 students, 63 teachers and 32 non-academic staffs. In a press statement issued yesterday by the Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN), the five schools were SK Sg Bong and SK Kuala Bok in Baram, SK Ng Bon in Sibu, SK Kuala Kenyana in Mukah and SK Genaan in Sebauh.

Other affected schools remained open included SK Bukit Salai in Sebauh, four schools in Subis namely SK Sg Manong, SK Rh Goyang, SK Kampung Tagageng and SK Rumah Ranggong.

Two schools in Miri affected were SK Sg Kelabit and SK Singai Seputi while five schools in Baram were SK Pengarah Enteri, SK Sungai Peking, SK Long Teru, SK Sungai Bain and SK Benawa.

Meanwhile three affected schools in Selangau were SK Sg Anak, SK Sg Buloh and SK Iban Union while three in Kanowit were SK Ng Balingiau, SK Ulu Bawan and SK Sungai Tuah. Two others were SK Ulu Segan in Bintulu and SK Rumah Keseng in Tatau.
