2,500 houses for low-medium income earners

LUNDU: The Sarawak government will construct 2,500 affordable houses in the next two years through the Rumah Spektra Permata (RSP) programme throughout the state to help low-income earners (B40) and medium-income earners (M40).

The project build-up area range from 700sq ft to 820sq ft with a selling price ranging from RM90,000 to RM160,000.

The type of houses vary from single-storey terraced to single-storey detached on stilts for eligible buyers with household incomes of between RM1,500 to RM6,000.

Mutiara Mortgage and Credit Sdn Bhd will provide financing facility for the buyers.

The projects are spread throughout Sarawak, and currently there are 1,020 houses in Darul Hana, Bunga Rampai, Lundu, Sematan, Igan, Tian, Mukah, Rangau, Limbang and Kampung Datu, Sibu.

Projects being planned with a total of 1,750 houses are located at Selipar Putus, Tabuan Melayu, Permyjaya, Miri, Lundu, Kanowit, Phase II, Sibuloh, Bau, Spaoh, Betong, Kampung Salak, Kuching, Kapit, Tabuan Malayu/Foochow, Lingga, and Majelin, Miri.

RSP Lundu was announced in Lundu by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg on February 15, 2017. It is 1.5km from Lundu town. Built under the Kampung Lundu Extension Scheme, 24 units of RMR houses have been completed under this scheme.

Twenty-six lots have been allocated for the development of RSP and the project is expected to be completed within 10 months (in March 2020).

The houses to be constructed are on stilts. All will be sold at a price of RM120,000 per unit.

Abang Johari visited the construction site during a walkabout in conjunction with the ‘Lan Berambeh Bersama Abang Jo’ held in Lundu yesterday.

He was accompanied by Santubong MP Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and other dignitaries.
