MIRI: Crime index in Miri District has decreased by 27 per cent or 40 cases during the first six months of this year compared to 147 cases during the corresponding period of last year.

However, the number of arrests made related to drug abuse activities has showed an upward trend with 616 people detained from January to June this year compared to only 371 people for the same period the previous year.

This was disclosed by Miri Police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu during Miri Police headquarters’ monthly assembly yesterday.

On the other hand, Alexson also advised police personnel in this district to practise good values and prioritise the needs of the public.

He later presented certificates of appreciation to 63 Miri police personnel from various ranks and departments for their achievement throughout the year.
