27,808 Covid-19 cases on Feb 18

KUCHING: Malaysia reported 27,808 Covid-19 cases yesterday (Feb 18), where 103 of the new cases were in Categories 3, 4 or 5.

Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the country also reported 36 deaths and 16 clusters yesterday.

Apart from that, he said, the number of Omicron cases in Malaysia has increased to 950 after 135 new infections were detected between Feb 13 and Feb 19.

He said out of the total 135 new cases, 77 found in Sarawak, Johor (15), ten each in Melaka and Selangor, Kuala Lumpur (nine), Negri Sembilan (seven), Perak (three), Kedah (two) and each one in Pahang and Kelantan.

“The 950 Omicron cases comprised 919 sporadic cases,” he said in a statement today.

He said the total number of Covid-19 infections now stands at 3,166,023.
