MIRI: A total of 28 individuals from diverse sectors including education, government, and volunteers attended a Hygiene Promotion (HP) training, hosted by the Malaysian Red Crescent (MRC) Miri Branch on May 4.

Led by the organising chairperson Wong Kheng Loong, it was facilitated by experienced members of the MRC, who previously underwent Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) training.

The primary objective of the HP training was to enhance emergency response capabilities and improve facilitation and communication skills among MRC volunteers.

Recognising the pivotal role of hygiene promotion in effective WASH interventions, the programme aimed to equip participants with essential knowledge and skills necessary for promoting hygiene practices within their respective communities.

In the face of ongoing public health challenges worldwide, the initiative underscores MRC Miri Branch’s unwavering dedication to fostering health and well-being at the grassroots level.

By providing volunteers with the tools and expertise needed to navigate and mitigate health-related emergencies, the MRC endeavours to cultivate resilient communities capable of effectively addressing evolving health threats.
