KUCHING: A total of 2,805 food baskets have been distributed to households in the Tamin constituency, said its assemblyman Christopher Gira Sambang.
“In Selangau, a total 1,703 food baskets were distributed to 76 longhouses in the area comprising Dijih, Ulu Selangau, Ulu Mukah, Duat and in Jalan Mukah. The distribution took place at Dewan Serbaguna Selangau.
“Meanwhile, in Lemai, a total of 702 food baskets were distributed to 42 longhouses and were dropped off at Rumah Watson Lasu longhouse in Pelugau, ” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday (Jan 21).
Gira said, for the areas of Sekuau, Oya and Pakoh, a total of 110 food baskets were issued to seven longhouses and handed over at Dewan Sekuau.
“Meanwhile, for the longhouse dwellers at Siong, Sebintek and Jalan Oya, a total of 220 food baskets were distributed,” he said.
The Tamin assemblyman said the distribution of food baskets would continue the next day for other areas and longhouses.
Present to distribute the assistance were staff of Selangau district office, village heads from the longhouse involved as well as officers from the Tamin constituency service centre.
Recently, it was reported that longhouses involved in the Pasai Cluster at Pasai Siong had to undergo lockdown to contain the Covid-19 outbreak and facilitate testing.
The lockdown has been imposed on more longhouses from the initial eight since starting on Jan 9 and as such has affected more than 2,000 dwellers.
