JULAU: A total of 29 crime cases were reported in the district last year, said Julau Police chief, DSP Bidol Noyeng.

Speaking to reporters after attending the 210th Police Day celebration here yesterday, Bidol said of the total, 13 of those cases were index crimes while 16 cases were non-index crimes. He said as this month, only four index crime cases were reported with two of the cases solved. “One of the cases was a robbery which occurred in Pakan last week with three suspects arrested and convicted in court.

“As for the remaining cases, they are still under investigation and we hope that in a week or two, we will have sufficient evidence and bring the culprits to the court, he said. Bidol said the few crime cases recorded and high percentage of cases solved reflected the efficiency of the local policemen in crime busting as well as in carrying out investigations. “In this context, I would like to thank all personnel and the public for their support in combating crimes in this district and also the local media for channelling accurate information to the public,” he said.
