30 receive food aid

MUKAH: Thirty more needy persons received food aid during the second edition of the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) community programme today.

Fifteen of the recipients were from Kampung Petanak Hulu while the other 15 were from Kampung Petanak Hilir.

Tellian assemblyman Yussibnosh Balo handed over the assistance to the recipients at the Ziarah Ukas N57 Tellian programme at a community hall at Kampung Petanak Hulu here.

He thanked the organiser, Ukas, for inviting him to officiate at the event.

Yussibnosh, who is also the former Balingian assemblyman, said meeting the constituents was an ongoing effort, not only during election time.

“I use the opportunity to interact and get feedback from the constituents during event like this,” he said.

He also revealed that he planned to introduce fertigation technique of farming here, after discussing the matter with the Agriculture Department on last Thursday.

Ukas Mukah Division officer Haffizul Abdul Halim, Dalat and Mukah District Council deputy walikota Councillor Jay Keram, Penghulu Edmund Innu Sebli and Ketua Kaum Will Plin and Kuheng Akup also attended the event.

The first Ziarah Ukas N58 Balingian programme was held at Kampung Teh here on Thursday (Aug 13), where 30 needy individuals also received food aid distributed by Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi.
