SIBU: About 300 personnel from the Ninth Infantry Brigade and 31st Border Brigade took part in a blood donation exercise organised by the Ninth Infantry Brigade at Rascom Camp, Mile 10 here, yesterday.

The exercise was meant to replenish blood stock at the Blood Bank of Sibu Hospital.

Speaking at the event, Ninth Infantry Brigade Commander, Brigadier-General Dato Subari Tomo said that the blood donation exercise was one of the main events carried out by the Armed forces in conjunction with its 84th anniversary celebration.

He added that the exercise is jointly organised with the Blood Bank of the Sibu Hospital.

“I believe that with the presence of about 300 personnel from the Ninth Infantry Brigade and 31st Border Brigade, we should be able to achieve the target set by the Blood Bank of Sibu Hospital.

“However, blood donation is a matter for the Health Department to deal with where the Blood Bank has been advised to take only 150 packets (pints) of blood

in a day,” he said, adding that the blood donation exercise in an annual event.

Among those present at the event were a Medical Officer of Sibu Hospital,  Dr Rachel Teng Li Chin and Ninth Infantry Brigade Staff Chief, Lieutenant Colonel Jauhari Talib.
