310 households under EMCO receive food aid

KUCHING: A total of 310 households in two enhanced movement control order (EMCO) localities in Kota Samarahan received their food supply aid recently.

The contribution was channelled by Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang to the residents of Kampung Sungai Batu and Kampung Tanjung Tuang.

The food aid was distributed by the Kota Samarahan MP’s service centre and was assisted by the Samarahan district Fire and Rescue Department.

Sungai Batu Village Head, Sudin Layan when contacted thanked Rubiah for channelling the food aid to the affected residents.

He said the assistance benefitted those who had undergone the EMCO since last week.

In another development, the Tanjung Tuang Cluster has recorded 140 positive Covid-19 cases and the Samarahan district recorded a total of 228 positive Covid-19 cases on Wednesday.

Kampung Tanjung Tuang has been under an EMCO since July 31 before being extended on August 13 due to the addition of 19 Covid-19 cases and enters its 21st day of implementation today.

Meanwhile, for Taman Samarindah which was placed under EMCO recently, a total of 2,500 food baskets were distributed to the residents today (Aug 19).

A Facebook post from Rubiah’s service centre, reminded the residents to fully adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) laid out in the EMCO and cooperate with the frontliners during the food distribution.
