32 Covid-19 cases from Subis District

MIRI: Miri division reported 40 new cases of Covid-19 on Tuesday, out of which 32 cases are from the Subis District.

According to Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC) today (Aug 3), of these 32 cases recorded from Subis District, 23 cases were from the Mega Suai Cluster, a new cluster announced on Tuesday.

The Mega Suai Cluster is a workplace cluster detected among workers and their family members in an oil palm plantation estate which is being placed under the enhance movement control order (EMCO) in Subis District.

The index case to the cluster was the 7,6390th case which involved a 40-year-old local man who tested positive for Covid-19 at a private hospital.

MDDMC said that the spread of infection took place through social interaction and close contact among the workers and their family members residing in the plantation area and active detection activities were carried out among them. 

All individuals are undergoing quarantine.

As of today, a total of 351 individuals have been screened, of which 24 tested positive for Covid-19 including the index cases and 327 are still awaiting their test results.

All Covid-19 positive cases were admitted to Miri Hospital and the Covid-19 Quarantine and Treatment Centre.
