MARUDI: The long delayed water supply project in Puyut Lubok Nibong will now be completed by the end of August or early September.

Labour, Immigration and Project Monitoring Deputy Minister Datuk Gerawat Gala is disappointed that the project, which was supposed to be completed in May, was not delivered as planned.

He had a meeting with the Rural Water Supply Department (JBALB), contractor, local community leaders (KMKK) and Tuai-Tuai Rumah to get the current status of the project.

“All the 34 longhouses in the area will enjoy clean water supply by the end of August or no later than early September.

“This is what we want. A resolution from the consultant and contractor,” he said during a press conference after chairing the joint meeting at the Mulu Assemblyman’s Service Centre on Yesterday (Aug 13).

“I am pleased that a clear sign was given to all KMKK and Tuai-Tuai Rumah including the problems and measures taken by the JBALB, contractor and also consultants to overcome the challenges faced regarding the supply of clean water,” he added.
