KUCHING: Corporate Affairs Assistant Minister Abdullah Saidol distributed 340 packets of ‘bubur lambuk’ (savoury porridge) to students and staff of SK Batu Lintang here, yesterday.

The event was organised by Batu Lintang Saberkas as part of State Saberkas programme for the fasting month of Ramadan.

“It’s a heart-warming gesture and effort by Batu Lintang Saberkas to participate in this programme even though most of their members are non-Muslims.

“It truly shows a sincere sense of tolerance, acceptance, unity and togetherness, still very much embraced among us Sarawakians.

“This kind of programme is important for us adults to show the younger generation the meaning of humanity, compassion and friendship,” he said.

Abdullah also gave a RM2,000 grant to Batu Lintang Saberkas to hold its activities.

Also present were Batu Lintang Saberkas chairman Kapitan Patrick Tan and SK Batu Lintang headmistress Sa’diah Bakar.
