KUCHING: The first ever Direct Sales From The Farm (JTDL) programme in Miri will take place at Bintang Mega Mall on Aug 23 to 25. Federal Agricultural Marketing Authority (Fama) deputy director-general (Operations) Zainal Abidin Yang Razalli said this programme would open up business opportunities to the participants. He said Fama not only brought participants to the programme but also partners, including five wholesalers and supermarkets.

“In addition to this JTDL programme, Fama is trying to attract tourists from neighbouring Brunei,” he said when met at the Fama Sarawak office here yesterday.  “Previously, they were focusing only on the local people so this time, the programme is organised to focus on opening up potentials in the local product market to penetrate the Brunei market,” he said.

“The purpose of the JTDL programme is to provide exposure to entrepreneurs. “It will also benefit consumers as they will be offered goods at prices lower than the regular prices,” he said.
At the upcoming programme in Miri, a total of 35 local entrepreneurs will be selling their respective fresh products. The nearby communities are invited to attend the JTDL programme which will be held this weekend.
