BINTULU: A total of 35 participants attended the Vegetable Cultivation Using Fertigation and Hydroponics Technology Course organised by Putra Agricultural Centre, Universiti Putra Malaysia Bintulu Campus (UPMKB) in collaboration with Jepak Jaya Development, Bintulu Development Board, recently.

UPMKB in a statement said throughout the course, participants were exposed to the introduction and latest concepts in fertigation and hydroponics and the production of vegetable crops using fertigation and hydroponic system technology.

Apart from that, he said, participants were also exposed to practical ways of preparing fertigation and hydroponic gardens, the potential of both vegetable growing systems to generate income or improve the participants’ socioeconomics.

This course was attended by 35 participants from Jepak who will move to the Jepak Jaya area here and were selected by the special officer of Jepak Jaya Development, Bintulu Development Board, Muhamad Ali Mohamad Asfia.

The Vegetable Cultivation Course Using Fertigation and Hydroponics Technology for Jepak residents was conducted by senior lecturer, Department of Crop Science, Faculty of Agricultural and Forestry Science, UPMKB Dr Muhammad Huzaifah Mohd Roslim, and assisted by UPMKB assistant agriculture officer Dennis Len Gouk and UPMKB senior agricultural assistant, Shamsudin Hatim.
