DALAT: A total of 37 new parking spaces will be provided when the upgrading of a concrete drain and existing parking area project in front of the bazaar here is implemented soon.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah observed that parking was always a problem in this bazar, especially on Sundays.

This is due to the big number of people coming to the Sunday Market making it quite difficult to find parking space.

According to her, with the implementation of the ongoing Bazarnita project next to the market, the area for parking is getting less.

“Because of that, we need additional parking lots; so it was suggested that the concrete drain be covered and filled up, and the area will become bigger in terms of space for car parks,” she told reporters when handing over of contract document to the contractor, Sri Chahya Mukah at the bazaar here on Friday (Oct 16).

Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman added upon the project completion, the Night Market on the opposite side can move over as it is spacious. This is also because the existing site is actually meant for parking and for some people to enjoy the night ambience.

She revealed that the project was aimed to solve parking problem in the bazaar, while providing space for trading activities too.

According to her, the project costing RM500,000 is expected to be completed in six months.
