380 people in Lundu receive donations in cash and kind

LUNDU: A total of 380 people in Lundu District received RM100 each for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfirtri celebration.

“Each of the recipients received RM100 and a hamper worth RM80. Overall, the contributions amounted to RM38,000.

“We hope that the contributions could help to improve the quality of life among the underprivileged families,” Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah, said during the Sejambak Kasih Aidilfitri ceremony at Dewan Mahligai Gading here today.

Fatimah said throughout Sarawak, there were a total of 15,318 or 30.03 per cent of Sarawak government aid recipients, to the total amount of RM1,531,500.

“In Kuching, there are 4,044 recipients while others were Samarahan (2,338), Serian (314), Sri Aman (735), Betong (1,956), Sarikei (270), Sibu (989), Mukah (2,058), Kapit (87), Bintulu (616), Miri (870) and Limbang (1,038).”

Meanwhile, Tanjong Dato assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan hoped that the programme would be continued and the contributions would provide some form of relief during the Aidilfitri celebration.

“I also hope that Sejambak Kasih Gawai will also be held in the Tanjong Dato area in conjunction with the festival, which will be celebrated soon.”
