MUKAH: Some 380 students received the first dose of Covid-19 vaccine at the Dewan Suarah Mesra immunisation centre (PPV) here on Thursday (Sept 9) as the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NCIP) for those aged 18 years and below kicked off.

Of the total, 350 were from SMK Mukah while the rest were from Mara Junior Science College (MRSM).

Dewan Suarah Mesra PPV coordinator Nolin Gendang disclosed that about 400 students from SMK Three Rivers would receive the first dose of Pfizer vaccine on Friday (Sept 10), followed by 250 students from SMK St Patrick, on Saturday (Sept 11).

“Walk-in is accepted but will not involve students from schools in this district.”

She added that the process on the first day was smooth because the schools had made proper arrangements with the parents, and the parents also arrived on schedule.

She revealed that there were only a handful of students who did not agree to receive the vaccine.

Nolin hoped that these students would change their minds and come for the jabs soon.
