3,845 monthly aid recipients in Mukah

MUKAH: There are 3,845 monthly aid recipients of various categories in Mukah division who are registered with the Welfare Department from January to December this year.

Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the government had spent RM14.34 million to help them during the period.

Of the total, 1,813 are the aged individuals and RM7.621 million was spent to assist them, while 453 are children and involved an expenditure of RM1.399 million with RM274,950 top up from the Sarawak government, said the minister.

A total of 937 are recipients of general aid (RM2.489 million); 193 are working individuals with disabilities or OKU (with RM916,000 given as allowance); 93 OKU or bed-ridden sick individuals (RM380,450 given as caring assistance); 352 OKU unable to work (RM1.046 million with RM209,250 top up from the Sarawak government), and four youth (RM1,600).

“The total monthly aid recipients in Sarawak this year is 52,785 while the expenditure involved is RM176.35 million,” she said when officiating at “Sejambak Kasih Hari Krismas 2020” held at Stadium Perpaduan Dalat in Dalat recently.
