SIBU: The Alumni Association of Methodist Pilley Institute will be holding the 3rd Pilley Heritage Charity Run 2018 on  June 23, 2018 (Saturday) with the aim of raising scholarship funds to assist financially needy students to pursue tertiary education at the institute.  

The flagging off ceremony will be officiated by Dudong State Assemblyman and Chairman of the Sibu Municipal Council. Datuk Tiong Thai King.

The run is divided into six categories for  the men and women participants. There will be  a 5-km race, a 10-km race and a 21-km race.  The flagging off time for the  21-km race will be at 4.00am while the 10-km run will start at 5.30am and 5-km run at 6.00am.   

Methodist Pilley Institute is a not-for-profit higher learning institution  and most of its students are from the lower to middle income families.  

It hopes that the scholarship funds will help to change the lives of young people and contribute positively to the welfare of their families and the society in the long run.

Hii King Kai, principal of Methodist Pilley Institute, has urged members of public to take part in the run to collectively raise funds for the needy students. 

 Registration fees and donation received will be utilised to fund the event and contributed to  the scholarships. 

The registration form is available online and from the administrative office at the institute.  

So far, about 550 runners have registered for the charity run.  All runners are to report themselves at the starting point at least 30 minutes before the flagging off time.

Collection of race kits will be on June 21 and June 22 (office hours) at Methodist Pilley Institute (Admin office).
