SERIAN: Forty classrooms in Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Serian will be installed with whiteboards before the start of schooling term.

Bukit Semuja assemblyman John Ilus said the installation of whiteboards will replace the old blackboards which were already in poor condition.

“The request to replace the blackboards was also due to health concern as the chalk dust is exposed regularly to the students through their eyes, nose, mouth and skin,” he said after officiating the symbolic handing over of whiteboards ceremony held at SMK Serian here on Monday (Jan 18).

John also informed that he had listed a construction of open hall for the school with an allocation of RM600,000 under Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) 2021.

“Let us hope that the proposal will be approved by the state government,” he said.

Previously, John also presented Minor Rural Project (MRP) grant worth RM20,000 to SMK Serian’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) for it to organise its annual activities.
