KUCHING: More than 4,000 frontline workers in Serian division will receive the Covid-19 vaccine during the first phase of vaccination starting at the end of this month.

Serian Resident Tuah Suni said the first phase will involve frontline staff consisting of medical workers, police, Armed Forces, Civil Defense Force and others.

“However, it also depends on the number of vaccines we will receive for the first phase.

“If the amount is enough, everyone will be vaccinated … if not, we need to look at the priorities,” he told reporters after attending the Covid-19 Immunisation Simulation Programme at the Serian Community Hall, here today.

Tuah said the second phase of the vaccination will involve high-risk individuals while the third phase will involve the general public.

“After the first dose injection, the individual receiving the vaccine will be given an appointment for a second dose of the injection.

“It will be carried out within an interval of 21 or 28 days after the first injection date,” he said.

“We expect about 108,000 residents throughout the Serian area to be involved in the Covid-19 vaccination. But it may exceed that numbers,” he added.
