416 new cases bring tally to 28,377

KUCHING: Sarawak’s Covid-19 tally is now at 28,377 after 416 new cases were recorded today.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 53 of the new cases were reported in Kapit, 46 in Sibu, 38 in Bintulu, 33 in Meradong, 30 in Miri, 29 in Kuching, 24 in Serian, 21 in Saratok, 18 in Beluru, 15 in Kanowit and 12 in Samarahan.

Mukah recorded 12 new cases; Selangau, 10; Sarikei, 10; Song, nine; Bau, nine; Belaga, eight; Julau, five; Tanjung Manis, five; Pakan, five; Lundu, five; Bukit Mabong, four; Sri Aman, three; Limbang, three; Tebedu, three; Matu, two; and one each in Kabong, Tatau, Dalat and Sebauh.

“Of the total, 267 cases were individuals screened from having close contact with positive cases while 76 were individuals screened from active clusters.

“There were 32 cases from other screenings at health facilities and 31 were screenings of symptomatic individuals at health facilities.

“There were nine Import B cases involving individuals returning from other states, and one Import A case involving an individual returning from India.”

Meanwhile, 449 cases had recovered and discharged from various facilities.

“Of the number, 147 were from Sibu Hospital and the low-risk treatment centre (PKRC) Sibu; 128 from Bintulu Hospital and PKRC under Bintulu Hospital; 50 from Sarawak General Hospital and PKRC under Sarawak General Hospital; 41 from Miri Hospital and PKRC Miri; 32 from Kapit Hospital and PKRC under Kapit Hospital; 25 from Hospital Sarikei and PKRC under Sarikei Hospital; 17 from PKRC Mukah; four from PKRC Serian, three from Hospital Sri Aman and two from PKRC Betong.

“This brings the number of Covid-19 cases who have recovered and discharged to 23,491 or 79.96 percent from the total number of cases in Sarawak.”

SDMC said 5,646 active cases are still being isolated and treated at PKRCs and hospital wards.

“416 persons under investigation (PUI) have been recorded and none are waiting for laboratory test results.”
