KUCHING: Forty-two errant individuals were each slapped with a RM1,000 compound for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the police will continue to carry out operations to enforce the SOPs in public places and violators will be issued a compound notice on the spot.
Bintulu recorded the most compounds issued with 40, followed by two compounds in Miri.
“Bintulu police have raided an entertainment centre in Tanjung Kidurong at 3am and arrested two locals for managing an unlicensed entertainment centre and operating overtime.
“In the raid, 40 patrons were compounded for not practicing physical distancing,” the committee said.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government issued 63 verbal, written, and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils,”
On the SOP compliance monitoring, patrol teams have inspected 1,635 premises throughout Sarawak.
These include 286 restaurants, supermarkets (234), banks (129), places of worship (95), public markets (77), government offices (71), leisure places (51), hawker stalls (33), construction sites (19), eight factories, and others (632).
Under Ops Benteng, a total of 589 vehicles were inspected at six roadblocks in five districts — two in Lawas, and one each in Lundu, Bau, Serian and Sri Aman.
