429 premises sanitised statewide

KUCHING: The statewide sanitisation exercise has been carried out in 429 premises since its implementation on Mar 30.

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) assistant operations director Tiong Ling Hing noted that number includes 117 government buildings; 90 places of worship; 56 public markets; 46 vehicles; 43 assembly points; 30 supermarkets; 29 housing areas; 16 hotels and two factories.

“Kuching recorded the most with 149 operations, followed by Miri (89); Limbang (33); Kota Samarahan (28); Sarikei (25); Sri Aman (18); Kapit (16); Sibu (15); Betong (13); Bintulu (four); and three operations in Serian,” he said in a statement.

The total number of personnel involved from Mar 30 stands at 6,474.

The figure comprised of personnel from Bomba, Civil Defence Force (APM), Health Ministry (MOH), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), local authorities, district offices, auxiliary police, and other agencies.

As at 10.30am yesterday, State Bomba Kuching Zone chief Henderi Ardimansyah pointed out that CityOne Megamall and a bus transporting students from Miri to Kuching, have been fully sanitised.

“A total of 40 personnel from Bomba and Kuching South City Council (MBKS) were involved in sanitising CityOne Shopping Mall yesterday.

“As for the bus transporting students from Miri, it took place at Kuching district police headquarters (IPD) involving five Bomba personnel,” he said.
