DALAT: Forty-three applications to repair houses under a state-funded programme here were approved yesterday.

The state-funded programme under the Minor Rural Project (MRP) and “Program Pembaikan Rumah Rakyat Miskin Sarawak (PPRMS)” was introduced by the Sarawak government in 2018 following a drastic cut in federal funds for a similar programme (“Program Perumahan Rakyat Termiskin” – PPRT) which was previously undertaken by the former Barisan Nasional government before it lost the 14th general election to Pakatan Harapan.

Dalat assemblywoman Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the Dalat MRP-PPRMS Committee conducted a meeting on Wednesday with the village chiefs and community leaders to deliberate on the applications.

“The repairing categories are in terms of roof, walls, ceiling, floor, kitchen, toilet, stairs and others.

“The applications have been forwarded to the respective JKKKs and the district committee for review,” she said after chairing the Dalat District MRP-PPRMS Project Committee meeting which approved the 43 applications yesterday.

Fatimah added the projects would be carried out by the respective JKKKs on a “gotong-royong” (mutual assist) basis.
