46 motorists ordered to turn back

KUCHING: A total of 46 motorists were ordered to turn back for not having legitimate reasons to travel in the second day of the conditional movement control order (CMCO) implementation in three zones, namely Kuching, Sibu and Miri.

Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Aidi Ismail said a total of 2,236 vehicles were inspected within 24 hours on Thursday.

“Apart from that, we also set up three additional roadblocks at the request of the district disaster management committee (DDMC) in Marudi, Betong and Song,” he pointed out today.

In addition, a total of 3,205 travel permit applications were received and from the total, none was rejected.

As of Thursday, all (15) roadblocks were manned by 328 personnel including the police, the army and various other agencies.

The public are advised to limit their movement in the affected zones and if the need to travel is urgent, they are required to obtain the permit from the police.
