KUCHING: During this festive period, it is customary for people to embark on shopping trips, hunting for their new Hari Raya outfits. However, for the less fortunate, new clothes and shoes are not as common.

On June 3, 49 children from Rumah Kanak-Kanak Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah were all smiles as they were treated to a shopping spree at Mydin Petra Jaya for new clothes and shoes.

They were led by the wife of former Head of State Toh Puan Hajah Norkiah along with Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

The children had expressions of pure joy on their faces as they eagerly tried on their colourful new clothes.

An estimated RM100 was spent on each child.
