MUKAH:  A total of 49 Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) and Politeknik Mukah (PMU) students here returned to their respective homes by bus yesterday after 43 days locked down in their campuses following the movement control order (MCO) enforced since March 18.

Four buses, three PMU’s and one UiTM’s, were used to transport the students, of whom 40 were PMU students and the rest UiTM.

The students departed at 9am for Sibu, after the sanitisation process by Mukah Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) earlier.

The convoy was escorted by two mobile police vehicles (MPV) and after reaching the roadblock at Selangau, the escort left them to proceed on their journey to the drop off location at Islamic Complex, Sibu.

UiTM lecturer Nur Ain Abu Bakar, who coordinated the send-off, said all the students and drivers were required to adhere strictly to the regulations under the MCO.

She said for the two UiTM students from Beladin and Pusa, their send-off from the drop off point to their home towns was arranged with Pusa District Office.
