KUCHING: A total of 4,991 households in the Murum constituency have received their food aid from the state government under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS).
Murum assemblyman Kennedy Chukpai Ugon said the distribution involved a total of 126 longhouses and villages within the last six days.
“Thanks God that today we have fully completed the BKSS food supply distribution for Murum following the movement control order (MCO).
“After six days in a row, distribution was successfully carried out. Today we have completed the distribution of food aid to the last 11 longhouses in the Tegulang zone, Metalun zone and Linau zone.
“This involved 545 households at our distribution centre at Kantin Aloi, Simpang Murum,” he said in a Facebook post last Wednesday (June 9).
Chukpai hoped with the food supply assistance by the state government, it will help the people affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I would like to thank the state government especially Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg for the BKSS initiative during the MCO. This has a great impact on the people, especially the rural population,” he said.
The assemblyman also thanked all government agencies involved in the coordination of the food distribution.
“Thanks to Bintulu/Sebauh Division Disaster Management Committee and Kapit/Belaga Division, community leaders, village safety and development committees and strategic partners.
“I would to thank the three owners of the premises used as distribution centre for allowing us to use their place.
“I would also like to remind all of us to always adhere to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) set at all times to prevent and break the chain of Covid-19 transmission in our community,” he said.
