KUCHING: No Delta variant cases have been confirmed among the 50 positive Covid-19 cases recorded in Kampung Bintawa Hilir, said Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi.

According to the Pantai Damai assemblyman, the village was placed under enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from July 21 to August 3 due to an upsurge in Covid-19 positive cases.

“As of now, the Ministry of Health (MOH) has informed that 50 positive cases have been identified in this village and all the individuals have been taken to the Covid-19 Quarantine and Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC).

“However, all of these positive cases were detected as normal cases of infection. No information has been received on which variants these cases belong to. We can only hope that there are no Delta variant cases in the area,” he said during his visit to Kampung Bintawa Hilir on Sunday (July 25).

During the visit, Dr Abdul Rahman presented 820 food packs from the Pantai Damai service centre to the residents of Kampung Bintawa Hilir and security personnel working there.
