50 children take part in mass circumcision

SIBU: A total of 50 children took part in a mass circumcision at An- Nur Mosque here yesterday. The programme was jointly organised by DUN Nangka Service Centre, An-Nur Mosque, Islamic Medical Welfare Association (Perkip) and Sarawak Union Medical Assistants, Sibu branch.

The event was witnessed by Assistant Minister of Education and Technological Research Dr Annuar Rapaee, who is also Nangka Assemblyman.

In his brief speech, Dr Annuar who is also Assistant Minister of Housing and Public Health said a mass circumcision of this nature saved costs. He congratulated the organising committee who worked together to make the programme a success.

“The number of participating children is limited to 50 because we need to take care of the cleanliness and quality of the circumcision.

“We do not want undesirable incidents to happen during circumcision,” he stressed, adding that children need to undergo medical examination before circumcision.
