KUCHING: Motorists with traffic summonses can look forward to a 50 percent discount on their penalties soon.

Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the offer, to be implemented throughout Sarawak, would be effective for two weeks beginning Dec 1.

He said some summonses were not eligible for the discount.

“They include accident summons; non-compound (NC) status summons; court hearing status summons; lorry related offence summons; dangerous overtaking or queue cutting summons.

“Other ineligible summonses include summons for using emergency lanes; traffic light offence summons; overtaking in double line summons; and exhaust modification related summons,” Alexson explained in a statement issued by the department on Thursday (Nov 25).

Payments can be made at all district police headquarters throughout Sarawak.
