KUCHING: Police issued 50 compounds to errant individuals for violating movement control order (MCO) standard operating procedures, on Monday (June 14).
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Kuching recorded the most compounds with 13, followed by Bintulu (12), Padawan (11), Miri (five), Sibu (three), Kapit (two), Marudi (two), Sarikei (one), and Kota Samarahan (one).
“The violations included being out in a public place beyond curfew without reasonable excuse (15); taking part in prohibited activities during MCO (14); carrying passengers exceeding the limit (five); opening premises prohibited during MCO (five); failing to scan the MySejahtera app when entering premises (three); gathering and failing to practice physical distancing (three); failing to wear face mask (three); failing to limit the number of customers entering premises (one); and travelling between districts without permit (one).
“This brings the total amount of compounds issued since March 18 last year to 7,809.”
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Local Government and Housing issued 17 compounds to business operators of premises under the supervision of various local councils.
Bau District Council recorded the highest compounds with eight; followed by six under Kapit District Council; two under Kota Samarahan Municipal Council; and one under Miri City Council.
SDMC added that the businesses violated SOPs such as failing to update the customer logbooks (seven); failing to practice physical distancing (six); operating without permission (two); failing to scan the MySejahtera app (one); and not wearing face mask (one).
This brought the total amount of compounds issued by local authorities since Feb 1 this year to 1,038.
