MIRI: Persatuan Dayak Miri (DAM) on Monday helped Senator Dr Nuing Jeluing to distribute 50 food baskets to low-income households from Tudan, Permyjaya and Senadin.

The handover ceremony took place at a shop lot in Senadin.

“The aid under the Pemulih package is meant to ease the burden of the people during the Covid-19 pandemic. There should be no political interest in distributing the food baskets,” said Senator Dr Nuing.

He said that the food assistance would be given out in stages to help the needy during this difficult time.

“Those in need of this assistance may approach DAM Miri and submit their personal particulars,” said Dr Nuing.

Also present during the handover ceremony were DAM Miri advisor Seraya Budol, Temenggong Wilson Atong and DAM Miri president Wilfred Mac.

Recently, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that the federal government would allocate RM300,000 to each MP, including those from the opposition, to implement the Food Basket Assistance programme under the National Recovery Plan (PPN) for affected groups in their constituencies.
