50 receive sacrificial meat from JPJ

KUCHING: Fifty asnaf (those worthy of receiving a Muslim tithe) received korban (sacrificial) meat from the Sarawak Road Transport Department’s (JPJ) Qurban Programme held in conjunction with Aidiladha.

Of the asnaf group, 30 were from Kampung Jaya Bakti while 20 were from Kampung Sri Arjuna.

“Aside from them, the korban meat will also be distributed to some members of the public and JPJ staff members,” explained state JPJ director Mohd Syafiq Anas Abdullah while officiating at the Qurban Programme at Surau An Nur within the JPJ Sarawak Complex here yesterday.

He announced that two cows were sacrificed  and 14 participants were involved in the activity.

During the event, the parts were skinned and the meat   stripped from the carcasses by the participants including Mohd Syafiq.

The korban meat was then proportioned accordingly and distributed in the afternoon.

“This Qurban Programme is an annual event that involves staff and the community.

“It is a way to strengthen relationships while celebrating   Aidiladha,” he explained.

He also expressed his appreciation to the organising committee members who successfully carried out the Qurban Programme.
