KUCHING: Fifty participants completed the fourth series of a three-day Friendly Neighbourhood Empowerment (KJM) 2020 workshop organised by Kuching North City Commission (DBKU), yesterday.

Its mayor Datuk Junaidi Reduan attended the closing ceremony held at Majma Mall here.
The objective of the workshop is to encourage the involvement of target groups and the general community in local development while enhancing the quality of life of the community through proactive and effective involvement in social and economic activities identified through the workshop.

Junaidi said the establishment of the KJM Institution is DBKU’s effort to create a prosperous community as well as to meet the criteria of the Beautiful, Clean, Safe, Smart and Clean Plan (CBSSS) of Kuching City.
“If we look at the true concept of empowerment in KJM, it refers to efforts to improve the standard of living, wellbeing and quality of life of the local community.
“This effort can be done by the community together with development agencies, governmental or non-governmental organisation — in fact, the success of this community depends on the community itself,” he said in his speech.
The workshop was attended by community members from five main constituencies under the DBKU — Pantai Damai, Demak Laut, Tupong, Samariang, and Satok.
