KUCHNG: Samling Group of Companies and ParkCity Group has donated 500,000 face masks to the Home Affairs Ministry in a show of solidarity to the federal government for combating the Covid-19 pandemic.
Samling Group chief executive officer Lawrence Chia and ParkCity Group chief executive officer Datuk Joseph Lau praised Putrajaya’s decision to extend the movement control order (MCO) for another two weeks from April 15 until April 28.
The move, pointed out by Chia and Lau, was in line with the directive of the World Health Organisation (WHO) and would help to further curb the spread of the pandemic.
“ParkCity feels it’s imperative to do its part and dedicate whatever resources it has to assist the Home Affairs Ministry in distributing masks to the frontliners such as the police.
“Our group is very grateful to the police for their dedication and sacrifice in helping our country during this trying time,” Lau said in a statement yesterday.
In the same statement, Chia also echoed Lau’s views and pledged that Samling Group would also be ready to assist the authorities in these difficult times.
“Samling is always looking for ways to relieve shortages of much-needed medical supplies in our hospitals and polyclinics, especially in the rural areas of Sabah and Sarawak,” Chia said.
