KUCHING: A total of 5,079 households in the Daro constituency will receive their food aid by today (June 11), said Daro assemblyman Safiee Ahmad.
He said as of Tuesday (June 8), the food aid was distributed to 1,360 recipients involving seven villages and 22 longhouses. Meanwhile on Wednesday (June 9), 1,101 recipients received food baskets involving eight villages and eight longhouses.
“The food aid distribution process today (Wednesday) was held in Kampung Nangar, Kampung Badong and Kampung Lemak Pek and eight longhouses,” he said.
He said this when met after monitoring the distribution of the food aid under Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) in Daro last Wednesday (June 9).
Safiee said the distribution was assisted by the village safety and development committees (JKKKs), the Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) members and the Sarawak National Youth Organisation (Saberkas) in each village.
He said assistance is sent through the service centre of each state constituency to the JKKK to be distributed to the household. He added Saberkas also helped JKKK to send the aid to every house so as to avoid gathering in one place.
“The collaboration of the three bodies is seen as very good in launching the food aid distribution process to reach the recipients,” he said.
Meanwhile, Igan MP Ahmad Johnie Zawawi who was also present expressed his gratitude to the GPS government which is very concerned about the welfare of the people at this difficult time.
“When the movement control order (MCO) is implemented, the standard operating procedures (SOPs) are also tightened and this has an economic impact, especially on small traders who cannot do business and so on.
“With this assistance, we can ease the burden of the people and at the same time continue to survive in this difficult time.
“Therefore, I always remind the public to always abide by the SOPs and together help the government curb the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
