508 MJAs detected operating in Sarawak

KUCHING: 508 Water Selling Machines (MJAs) have been detected operating throughout Sarawak.

In line with the update procedure of the application by the Food Safety & Quality Division Headquarters (IPBKKM), Ministry of Health, all licenses application should be made on-line using the http://fosimdomestic.moh.gov.my link starting April 2017.

Accordingly, beginning on this date, all Divisional Health Offices will contact all MJA operators or representatives for the purpose of providing MJA license applications on-line and the development of the Water Treatment Machinery Safety Manual.

Therefore, all District / District Health Offices will handle the MJA license application’s workshop using online on or before 31 July, 2017 if not haven’t do the application.

After the on-line license application process, water sampling from MJA will commence to be carried out by the Powerful Authority to ensure compliance with Table 25 of the Packages of Drinking Water Packages and Water from Water Selling Machines (Table A) of the Food Act 1983 before proceeding with the licensing approval process.

All MJA operators or representatives may be taken under legal action if they fail to comply with the provisions under Rule 360c (4), Food Regulations 1985 where MJA operators or representatives can be fined not more than RM 5,000 or imprisonment for a term not exceeding 2 years.

Therefore, cooperation from all MJA operators is requiered to facilitate the smooth running of the license application process, water sampling or related matters.

The MJA operator may contact the nearest District / District Health Office where MJA is located for further information.
