513 new cases bring state’s tally to 43,326

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 513 Covid-19 positive cases today (May 25), bringing the state’s tally to 43,326.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 317 cases or 61.79 percent of the new cases were detected in Miri, Bintulu, Sibu, Samarahan, and Kuching districts.

The districts that recorded cases today were Miri with 94 cases; Bintulu (81); Sibu (49); Samarahan (48); Kuching (45); Kapit (30); Tatau (25); Selangau (21); Subis (12); Saratok (12); Tanjung Manis (11); Pakan (11); Simunjan (10); Mukah (10); Pusa (nine); Kanowit (eight); Asajaya (eight); Bukit Mabong (six); Sri Aman (five); three each in Meradong, Lubok Antu, Bau, Julau, and Serian; and one each in Limbang, Sebauh  and Belaga.

Out of the 513 new cases, 77  were symptomatic during the Covid-19 screening.

440 individuals were instructed to undergo quarantine at designated places.

The SDMC said, in its statement, 411 new cases were screened after having contacts with positive cases, 39 cases were detected from screening of symptomatic individuals in health facilities, 34 from other screenings in health facilities while 29 were individuals linked to active clusters.

It reported 433 patients had recovered and were discharged from hospitals statewide today.

Of these, 88 were from Sibu Hospital and the Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) under it; Miri Hospital and the PKRC under it (82); the Sarawak General Hospital and the PKRC under it (75); Bintulu Hospital and the PKRC under it (58); Sarikei Hospital and the PKRC under it (56); PKRC Sri Aman (27); PKRC Betong (22); PKRC Mukah (12); Kapit Hospital and the PKRC under it (11); and PKRC Serian (two).

These bring the number of recovered and discharged cases thus far to 35,867 or 82.78 percent of the total number of cases in Sarawak.

“There are 7,101 individuals still undergoing treatment at PKRCs and hospital isolation wards in the state.

“513 persons under investigation (PUIs) have been reported,” added the SDMC.
