KUCHING: A total of 53 less fortunate children received incentive from Sarawak Islamic Council or Majlis Islam Sarawak (MIS) here yesterday.
These recipients are from Skim Penempatan Semula (SRS), RPR Batu Kawa Phase 1 and 2.
MIS president Datuk Misnu Taha who was at the handing over ceremony said the incentives were distributed as part of the council’s Ziarah Safari Ramadan programme.
“MIS held the programme for it to engage with the local community as well as handing out incentives to the children in need in conjunction with Ramadan,” Misnu told reporters during the Ziarah Safari Ramadan event at Ramadan at Masjid Darul Ibadah RPR Batu Kawa Phase 1 here yesterday.
“We will be carrying out visits to mosques within Sarawak to ensure that the mosques are appreciated by the community,” he said.
Through the programme, the council aims to channel information directly to the mosque committee, Misnu pointed out.
The Darul Ibadah mosque also received a contribution of five rolls of praying mats, two fans and a water compressor machine courtesy of MIS.
Some 100 residents and community members joined the fast-breaking session followed by Tarawih prayer.
Also present were Kuching Islamic Affairs officer Ramzen Arbi and Darul Ibadah Mosque chairperson Amil Enn.
