KUCHING: A total of 546 teachers and their family members returned safely to Sarawak on June 19 and 20 with their flights facilitated by Sarawak Volunteers (SV) and Rumah Sarawak.
Present during the last flight on Saturday was Tupong assemblyman and SV advisor Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman.
According to SV patron and Senior Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof, both SV and Rumah Sarawak have been integral in ensuring Sarawak students have access to food during the movement control order (MCO).
“They too are responsible in bringing the students home with the help of the Education Ministry, Higher Education Ministry, Rural Development Ministry, Transport Ministry, Human Resources Ministry, Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) and Malaysia Airlines,” he said in a statement Sunday.
Prior to this, SV and Rumah Sarawak had successfully facilitated the return of 9,668 Sarawak students who were stranded due to the MCO.
