BELAWAI: A total of 56 people from 15 families were left homeless after their longhouse at Kampung Stalon here was razed by fire.
The eight-door longhouse was completely destroyed in the fire which occurred at 8pm on Monday.
Fortunately, there were no injuries in the incident.
Due to the lack of road access to the location, firefighters had to use boats to get there.
They managed to control the fire using pumps and water from the villagers’ storage tanks as the water level had receded.
