MUKAH: A total of 56 organisations in Balingian constituency received minor rural project (MRP) grants amounting to RM284,000 here last Wednesday.

Balingian assemblyman Abdul Yakub Arbi handed over the government outright grant (OG) to the recipients at a simple handover ceremony at Menara Pehin Setia Raja here.

He said despite the movement control order (MCO), it was his duty to distribute the MRP grants, and hoped that the recipients would utilise the government aid wisely and based on priority.

On the conditional movement control order (CMCO), Abdul Yakub reminded the constituents that it was also their role to help the government in containing the Covid-19 pandemic by adhering to measures outlined by the authorities.

“Following the MCO, we also have to be ready to embrace the new normal,” he added.

Of the total, Mukah district officer Shaferi Saili received on behalf of 13 recipients comprising eight clubs, one association, two non-governmental organisations (NGO) and two religious activities standing committees totalling RM155,000.
