566 new cases, 11 fatalities

KUCHING: The state reported 566 new positive cases and 11 fatalities yesterday (Oct 29).

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 554 of the new cases were in Categories 1 and 2, while 12 were Categories 3, 4 and 5 cases.

Kuching District reported the most cases with 138 followed by Miri (84); Sibu (79); Lawas (38); Limbang (34); Bintulu (25); Mukah (18); Kanowit (17); Serian (16); Simunjan (12); Samarahan (10).

Nine new cases were each reported in Daro, Betong, and Dalat; Sri Aman (eight); Pakan (seven); Lundu and Sarikei (six each); Bau (five); Marudi, Meradong, Saratok, and Subis (four each).

Asajaya, Belaga, and Beluru recorded three new cases each; Tebedu and Telang Usan (two each); and one case each in Kapit, Pusa, Song, Lubok Antu, Sebauh, Bukit Mabong, and Tatau.

This brings the cumulative cases in the state to 239,784 to date.

Meanwhile, the 11 fatalities occurred between Oct 21 and Oct 28.

“The deaths consist of victims aged 56 to 91 from Sarikei, Kuching, Miri, Limbang, and Betong divisions,” it said.

On another note, the committee also announced the enforcement of the enhanced movement control order (Emco) at Rumah Soon Ugap, Sg. Sibau, Bayong in Sarikei from Oct 29 to Nov 4.
Meanwhile, three Covid-19 clusters, namely Ensebang Plaie cluster in Serian, Annah Rais cluster in Kuching, and Sungai Tangap cluster in Subis have ended after no new cases were detected there in the past 28 days.

Sarawak currently has 31 active clusters, of which none recorded new cases.
